PILLAR 01 / AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS

Protect the source. Preserve the stratification.

Targeted hypolimnetic oxygenation and multi-barrier restoration for drinking water reservoirs.

THE CHALLENGE

Start with
the mechanism.

Seasonal thermal stratification can isolate deep water, driving anoxia and the internal release of iron, manganese, ammonium and reactive phosphorus.

THE APPROACH

We combine three-dimensional reservoir diagnosis with targeted deep-water oxygenation, inflow wetlands, littoral planting and calibrated food-web management. The oxygenation system is designed to preserve the natural thermocline.

Brochure system concept: targeted deep-water oxygenation, onshore control and a profiling buoy.

TECHNICAL SCOPE

01

Diagnose the water column

Bathymetric surveys, CTD thermocline profiling, dissolved-oxygen profiles and sediment nitrogen/phosphorus release assessment.

02

Re-oxygenate the hypolimnion

Deliver oxygen-rich water to the target depth without resuspending sediment or deliberately mixing the entire reservoir.

03

Build source-to-intake barriers

Combine inflow subsurface wetlands, bay restoration, macrophyte belts and food-web control around site-specific risks.

BROCHURE REFERENCE / TECHNICAL CONTEXT

Brochure system specification: 15 m deployment depth, 150 m³/h and outlet DO ≥30 mg/L.

The DO value describes oxygenated system output, not a reservoir-wide dissolved-oxygen target. Specifications require site-specific design.
